Okay, maybe I was a bit premature with the whole sponsored bit. Although I am hoping to hear back from their people by the end of this year. I’m just saying I did ask, so that makes this thing all okay. But, what the hell, it is time for Friday Fun, and what could be more fun than pitting two of the funniest actors against each other. You see, I was watching Land of the Lost the other day, which is completely dumb, but super funny, and a friend was arguing that for the money Jack Black was a better actor than Will Ferrell. I nearly had an aneurism.
The only way Jack Black is funnier than Will Ferrell is if Ferrell would happen to die one day and his corpse ended up in a movie. One of Black’s films might be slightly funnier than Ferrell’s corpse. I’m just saying. Let us compare the movies they are most famous for. Jack Black has Kung-Fu Panda, which hardly counts because he needed an all-star cast to make it funny, plus it was animated and pandas are naturally cuter than Black. Really, how could that movie not be good with Seth Rogan, Lucy Liu, Jackie Chan, Angelina Jolie, and Dustin Hoffman. Jack Black was the worst thing in that film. Well, let’s see his filmography also includes Saving Silverman, which was made funny by Steve Zahn and R. Lee Ermey, not black who failed as a comic relief; School of Rock, yawn; Nacho Libre, nothing to even say about this disaster; and Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny. The last movie was so bad I could barely sit through it once, oh and it has the unfortunate side effect of showing off Jack Black’s obvious fetish with his own penis. Yeah, we know that guys are usually into their own junk but they aren’t supposed to put it on the big screen or talk about it in magazine interviews. It is weird and if you think I am wrong watch TDPOD and Saving Silverman and watch how many times he references his own junk. The real point about Jack Black is that he provides comic relief to movies, like in Tropic Thunder. When delivered in small doses he can be fine, when starring, it is probably going to suck.
Will Ferrell on the other hand has pretty much rocked every movie he has ever been in. Many people have said to me that he only plays on character. Well, I freaking dare you to watch, oh say Old School, which was phenomenal, but I will take points away because Vince Vaughn helped complete that film, then compare it with Stranger than Fiction, which I would say is Ferrell’s dramatic masterpiece. Additionally, can you name a movie that Ferrell has been in that wasn’t a side-splitting trip initiated by him? Let’s see, Step Brothers, hahahahaha; Anchorman, and yes my boss got in my face over my statement that it might not be the most quotable movie of all time and told me to take it back or I was fired, he may have been joking but I took it back anyway; Blades of Glory, uh hello; and who can forget Talladega Nights, don’t snort these here lucky charms. Really the list goes on and on and I would type it all out laughing my butt off or you could just look up his filmography yourself.
The whole point is that you can like Jack Black, that is fine, you just can’t like him more than Will Ferrell. Only one of these men is truly funny and it was the actor who starred in Night at the Roxbury. That was Will Ferrell people. So, watch something Ferrell related this weekend, or can you remember what he said about not chewing Big Red gum, yeah that.
