On the President’s campaign website someone posted the following cartoon or e-card you see on your left. Now, I am pretty sure this was put up by an individual not related with the President’s campaign, a supporter of course. But really is this what liberals really feel about the Republican candidate for President? Now the offending picture in question has been removed from the campaign website, because let us face it, the accusation implied is simply not true.
Vote like your lady parts depend on it; because they kind of do, reads the caption. Really, your lady parts are held by the party in power and should the other party win the election they are going to take them away? There will be some kind of defective vagina recall put into effect? I just don’t see it happening. I could understand this mentality if, oh say, Clinton were running again, HA! No, but really, whoever is in power is not going to take away or regulate your lady parts.
The government is not going to come in and mandate what you do with your sexual organs, nor are they going to go around seizing birth control, prophylactics, or deny abortions. None of those things are going to be taken away from women.
Now, a new administration may restrict the freedom to attain all of these things for free from the coffers of the taxpayer, but who has a right to free anything in this country? I didn’t realize the government was here to regulate and provide all your naughty bits care. No one is saying you don’t have the power to regulate or take care of your own life, your own choices, or etc regarding your parts. What countless legislators and policy makers have said is the government, local, state, and federal, has no responsibility to pay for these items.
The Republicans aren’t going to take away birth control, if you want it, you are free to go and buy it. Birth control pills are by no means expensive, running somewhere in the $10-15 dollar range. So, why should the government fork out that money every month for a woman. Shouldn’t she be regulating that? It is cheap enough she could conceivably stock up on the supply herself. The government isn’t here to pay for every little do-dad you want. The government’s main goal is defense of the country and providing for the COMMON good. The key word being common here, in other words, what every citizen needs, which is protection, and not the kind of protection that keeps you from getting pregnant. No, that is a personal responsibility, just as it is your job to screen your partners carefully to ensure you aren’t bedding someone who is going to leave you with a nasty little friend that will require and antibiotic to fix.
No one is taking away the freedom of choice for abortions we have in this country. If you have become pregnant, you are free to do with that as you will, given limitations on late-term abortion. The Executive branch isn’t going to suddenly overturn Roe v. Wade as soon as the office is taken, besides that abortion industry is largely regulated by the individual states, for the protection of women. That is to keep them from being exploited, pressured, brought to the clinic by a pimp, or a 14-year-old teen by her thirty-five year old boyfriend.
No, your lady parts are safe from confiscation by government forces. You may have to revert to grooming it yourself and take care with what you put into and take out of it with a new administration because the fix may be something you have to provide for yourself. The government doesn’t exist to hand out entitlement after entitlement. That kind of action is unsustainable. Besides for the last two hundred or so years women have pretty much been able to take care of those things on their own. It is called personal responsibility.
Vote like personal responsibility and accountability matter this election cycle, because it kind of does.
