Good day. Yes I know I have been gone these last three days. Well, I had a wedding to attend for my cousin and sometimes family commitments are more important than blogging. This is one of those cases. But I know you have missed the Monday morning rant so I’ve decided that just this once I will move it to Tuesday so you can share in my righteous indignation.
Today I am going to cover the tweets about the election. Seems there have been numerous tweets about how if the Democrats do not win the election in November a number of people are going to riot. This is not a few, crackpot individuals, this is several hundred well established twitter account holders threatening with all their might that if the Republicans are duly elected they will rise up and break stuff, set cars on fire, and loot pretty much everything they can get their hands on. Really, in a Representative Republic you are going to destroy your neighborhoods and the local businesses in these neighborhoods because a greater number of the electorate chose the other candidate over yours? We have a word for that. It is called an insurrection.
Do you really think that in this day and age showing up with protest signs, some bottles, rocks, pipes, and duffel bags to carry off loot that you are going to make a difference in the election? I don’t think so. You see our forefathers carried on an eighteen year guerilla style war against a legitimate government in order to secure their freedoms and the rights of all men residing in America. Yes, I know some of you are saying, eighteen? Yeah, starting with the continued campaign of subversive literature and mob violence that came out of the Stamp Act of 1765 the Revolution was born. Now the mob violence was in fact directed at the agents of the stamp tax collection or issuance, this wasn’t random business burning and carriage tipping. This was a mob with a purpose. They also had the benefit of
facing only a token force of the military in that region as they were stationed there in an outpost capacity. But they fought for all those years with a purpose, namely to govern themselves. What would you be rioting for, more government programs to give you what you want? To keep a black man in office? To keep a white man out of office? I don’t get what you are trying to get out of this threatened action should the election go against your party? I can tell you one thing. It won’t work.
If you tried that kind of baloney today you would be quickly put into your place by the force of the police, state, and federal government. By the way, how is a riot in an urban center like Detroit, Chicago, or L.A. any different from the flash mobs that plague these areas already? You think the police would show up to stop you from raiding a Wal-Mart or beating and perhaps killing some innocent white people who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. How does this advance your narrative? No,
much like Watts in the 1960’s the national guard or ever perhaps the military would be called in to trounce your little uprising/rioting if it started to get out of hand. Rioting is an ineffectual method of dealing with anything, even if it because your sports team wins the championship.
You tend to think the majority of those who voted with the losing side would be with you. You are wrong. This is not the 1860 election where the outcome decided the course of the Civil War to follow, no this is just another bureaucrat taking place of a bureaucrat in the grand scheme of things. What do you have on the line. The welfare entitlement, food stamps, unemployment? These things will not end under new leadership, they might be reformed perhaps, taking some of the most egregious offenders and users off the list. That part of the zero liability voter who votes for whoever will give him the most handouts, but that is a small part of the electorate at best and I would be willing to bet a lot of those people aren’t even registered voters. So they really have no say in this country.
While it may be true that the losing side in this election will accuse the other side of stealing the election that really doesn’t matter. Did that cause a massive uprising in 2000 when those accusations were made? No. Guess what, America soldiered on. Regardless of who wins this race America will continue to be although the electorate is deeply divided among two camps that have vastly different views for the future of America. You can either take place in the process and attempt to make a difference, or you can rail against the system on the outside threatening violence and accomplishing nothing at all. The choice is yours.
