Does anyone in Washington have a clue anymore, does the Constitution of the United States of America mean nothing. I mean, just what does the Senate think they are doing up there in Washington. If you aren’t sure about what I am talking about, see what happened in D.C. last night or early this morning as the case were. A Senate deal to avert the fiscal cliff has been passed by the Senate. The deal, which passed the Democratic-controlled Senate in an overwhelming 89-8 vote in the middle of the night, would maintain tax cuts for individuals earning less than $400,000 and couples earning less than $450,000. Technically, it would reinstate cuts that expired at midnight and all but a sliver of the U.S. population will avoid higher tax rates, some key issues will be put off for two months.
Wow, yay, crisis averted. Um wait a second, financial bills waiting to become law don’t originate in the Senate, do they? No they don’t. As a matter of fact Article 1 Section 7 of the Constitution of the United States of America states explicitly: All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills.
And yes folks, raising taxes, in any way, shape, or form, counts as raising revenue. If you are increasing income into the coffers of the United States then that bill has to originate in the House of Representatives. I don’t care how overwhelmingly they approved the passage of their bill, they have no right to do so and it should be declared null and void by the House of Representatives. Violating the Constitution to spare some taxes for those making less than 400K, and blah, blah, blah, piddly crap, isn’t the way to get things done. We do not violate the Constitution, got it. I guess all those super educated, elitist, smarter than thou Senators with their cranial rectal inversions don’t know, or don’t care about any of that. Following the Constitution is for the little people I guess.
And yes I see all the libtards and their comments about the fiscal cliff and how it is the fault of the Republicans, the TEA party, Conservatives, how we’re holding America hostage, etc. Well guess what. The legislative houses of the U.S. were controlled by progressives, democrats, and liberals, from 1932 to 1994 roughly. In that time they passed a pile of entitlement programs, Welfare, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, War on Poverty, etc, ad nauseum. Those things are what is bankrupting this country. Those programs, so important to give away money from the makers to the takers that it is draining the pockets of the people and the coffers of the government. You want to avert a fiscal crisis, you want to keep from going off the cliff. Stop giving away money you don’t have to people who don’t deserve to receive it. That means all of it.
The government doesn’t exist to take care of you and it certainly doesn’t exist to violate the constitution anytime it feels like it.
