It is not often I rejoice at the passing of another human being, but when that human is a monster I am honestly happy they can no longer exert power and project misery in this world. People celebrated and continue to celebrate the death of Hitler in 1945, and the death of Chavez is no less important in the twenty-first century. The death of Hugo Chavez of Venezuela was a great thing yesterday. Yes I know that Hollywood is in an unofficial day of mourning at the passing of the socialist leader but then again most of them aren’t too attached to the real world to begin with.
By the way, for someone who famously called President Bush the devil I guess he will get first hand knowledge now if the former President really is the Prince of Darkness.
He was a thorn in the side of not only the Americas but also his own country. He had strong ties to other anti-American governments like Iran and Cuba would it not be for the oil his country was rich in no one probably would have given two craps about another tin-pot socialist dictator, but they had the oil and after his election he nationalized the oil and continued to sell the U.S. the oil all while bad mouthing his number one customer.
He took a rich, happy nation and managed to convince the people that there just wasn’t enough fairness, the people on the bottom were being exploited by not only those at the top but America and the rest of Western civilization as well. He helped the people ruin his country and made alliances and friendships that reduced that nation to a shell of its former self; a possible funding network for terrorism with all the legitimacy of a puppet state.
The real problem for, Chavez and to the joy of the rest of the freedom loving world, is that the dictator was really a one man show. He ruled with the help of military loyalists after a failed coup attempt against him in 2002 but had no real successor. There just wasn’t another compelling revolutionary socialist in his camp that he was grooming for leadership. He intended to lead until he died and take Venezuela down the path of total socialism. Happily he died yesterday instead of down the road in 2031 as he once projected.
Perhaps now Venezuela can begin to recover. Without the monster Chavez they have a shot.
