It has been two days since the 6 woman jury found Zimmerman not guilty of second degree murder or of even manslaughter in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. America stands divided on the issue, rioting and destruction across the United States and I really can’t understand why. Here is the deal: Zimmerman had his day in court and his side emerged not guilty. The End. You don’t know all the aspects of the case, you didn’t see all the evidence, you didn’t sit there on the jury for day after day listening to every single iota of speech from every single person who sat in the witness stand. Those six jurors did though and the ultimately were entrusted with ensuring justice was served. Of course, now their lives are in peril as well as the internet is aflame with suggestions they need to be killed in the name of, I don’t know, black justice? Bulls%^&, they did their jobs.
I bet that a lot of you were upset when Casey Anthony wasn’t convicted in the death of her child, but nevertheless that is the American justice system for you. Sometimes the prosecution can’t meet the burden of proof. Innocent until proven guilty is the axiom we live by and it just wan’t proved beyond a shadow of a reasonable doubt. She moved on, America moved on. We were all angry for a week, a visceral reaction that no one had “paid” for the death of a child. I imagine this is what is going on right now in America with the Zimmerman thing. Trayvon was indeed a child, or at least a minor at the age of 17. His death was a pointless tragedy that probably could be avoided, but there is nothing you can do about it now, justice has prevailed no matter what you think. Zimmerman is blameless…in the eyes of the law, and that is what we follow in the United States. You don’t have to like it, but in order for our system to work, you do have to respect it.
Only the truly hateful people, looking for a fight, looking for violence, looking for division, are still trying to foment some kind of action in the form of mobs, murder threats, rioting and the like. These people want to know if it is okay to kill teenagers, like the AP reporter Cristina Silva. Miss, your bias is showing again. These people, like the race baiting Sharpton or Marion Barry, or Jesse Jackson want you to know that this is not over, racism is alive and well in America and they are fighting for you and fighting to get Zimmerman tried again for some other thing. They don’t want peace and harmony in America, they want a sharp divide between white and black, or white hispanic and black, between rich and poor, between city and country dwellers. This is because they thrive in this environment of destruction and unrest.
The DOJ, which hasn’t done a damn bit of good on any case since Eric Holder took it over, wants to look into whether or not Zimmerman violated the civil rights of Trayvon, despite the fact that the FBI did an in-depth investigation in the motivation of the shooting and found absolutely nothing that would merit a racial undertone or overtone. But race, has to be a factor they intone. That is the only way this makes sense to them.
The election of Barack Obama was supposed to usher in the post-racial America. For the first time, Michelle could be truly proud of her country. In reality, the election of President Obama has ushered in an era of race-centric behavior where every little thing was motivated by not the character of your person, but the color of your skin. This is the reality of this case. The media has been feeding the people all the racist connotations of this case, manufacturing them in some cases, that just didn’t happen according to all the professional local, state, and federal investigations that went into this case.
Forget race, embrace justice. You don’t have to love George Zimmerman and you can mourn the senseless death of a teenager without being an ass or threatening the lives of others. In the words of another, truly race oriented trial, “Can’t we all just get along?”
