The President has said that while he was not on the ballot his policies were…and he thought that would help his party today. But the exact opposite is going to happen, is happening right now.
Harry Reid would have you believe that a change in congressional leadership could result in a Congress that wastes the American people’s time saying; “Frankly, a Republican House and Senate could go beyond shutting down the government – they could waste months of our lives on impeachment.” Yes that’s right. The public is being asked to swallow that crap from the man who’s left more than 350 bills passed by the House in purgatory on his desk as he champions the battle cry of the desperate Left about obstructionism and impeachment.
I have news for you, no one is going to impeach the President, not because he didn’t break any laws, collude with the IRS, or any number of other things, but simply for the fact that in order for the Senate to find a sitting president guilty and seal the impeachment it requires 60 votes. In order to have 60 votes in the Senate the republicans would have to win 15 of the 17 democrat seats up for election this year. Yes, that is called an impossibility. Now make no mistake, the Congress could very well go on record and censure the president’s actions, they could do this or that, and since the democrats invoked the nuclear option earlier the republicans can keep just about any appointee they want from sitting as named by the president…thank you Harry Reid and company for making that possible when you wanted to pack the courts…I bet you’ll be howling about how unfairly the tactic is being used against you when your party is in the minority. But all of these scare tactics have nothing to do with what the election today is all about.
This election is about one thing, the repudiation of an empty presidency filled with half-truths, outright lies, unfulfilled promises, and hopes for economic parity that have gone down the drain. The people know the president’s policies are on the ballot and they want to tell him that those policies suck, are no good, and don’t work. They didn’t get to keep their healthcare, they didn’t get to keep their doctors, they owe more for less now than they did before, they’re worried about an emerging ISIS threat that someone said was the JV team. They’re worried about pulling out of the middle east in the middle of what looks like might turn into another ground invasion of Iraq…when we only left their three years ago, despite the warnings something like this would happen, led by a man we released from captivity under our president’s watch because he did not pose a significant terror threat. They’re worried about the lack of Ebola screening at airports across America and wonder why we can’t restrict travel from infected nations like the rest of the world is doing. They want to know why there is an Ebola czar if there is no response, and why the czar has no background in medicine or any other field of science besides the political kind. They’re getting tired of the presidential end around of congress every time he wants something the American people are opposed to. They aren’t interested in amnesty for 11-15 million illegal immigrants, they are interested in who is going to uphold the laws of the United States when illegal immigrants are raping and killing American citizens. They are worried about the part-time jobs they have because they got laid off from their full-time gigs. They are wondering about a 6.5% unemployment rate when almost all of that job growth has gone to immigrants…never mind the 20+% unemployment rate for American teens, or the 11.4% unemployment rate for blacks which is almost double the national average. The people want something to happen and the only real way to express their displeasure is to vote bums out of office for the chance that other bums might make a difference.
It is no surprise the several democrats on the ballot didn’t want the president campaigning for them. He is not popular. In fact when he did go campaigning all indications pointed that in all likely hood it actually hurt that democrats chances of being reelected.
Is it any wonder that polling shows a favorable rate hovering in the low 40’s and that in ten states it is actually now running in the 30’s. People are upset that they voted for hope and change six years ago and then again stayed the course two years ago and now they are hoping they are left with enough change to pay the bills.
Today is not a momentous defeat for the president, it is a momentous victory for the electoral process…maybe after this he’ll wake up and start giving the American people what they want instead of wishing he was the president of China and could do whatever he wished
