In 2007, former governor of Kansas and now disgraced HHS Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius stated in a speech, “I’m all for a single payer system eventually.” President Obama is a proponent of the single payer system as is Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi’s fix of the horrifying roll out of Obamacare is to turn it into a single payer program. In fact most hard-core libtards and even more moderate Democrats all seem to be pushing this single payer line…they all think it’s the wave of the future.
For those of you confused by Obamacare and the single payer action I can sum it up in a nutshell. Obamacare builds on existing infrastructure to deliver health insurance for the public. In a single payer program the people pay for the insurance directly to the government, rather than private insurers, and the government pays for all health care costs….in other words completely socialized medicine, which goes by different names like medicare-for-all.
In fact, nine states have proposed single payer systems in state and all nine have failed, including Vermont which abandoned their plan in 2014, citing costs and tax increases that could cripple Vermont’s economy. Vermont has it right, either the taxes needed to pay for the health care cripples the economy in the long run or like Canada you just stop allowing people to see the doctor.
Here is a truth, a single payer system will give you health insurance, but it won’t guarantee you a right to see a doctor. You have coverage, which is a human right the left says, but what is coverage without treatment…empty ideology because single payer is a lie.
Canada adopted a single payer system in 1984. By 1993 the wait for necessary health care was 9.3 weeks. This is necessary health care, not elective health care, not unnecessary or vanity surgeries…it is for necessary health care. Necessary meaning either needed to continue living or treatment needed to be resolved before it leads to further problems. As of 2014, that wait time was up to 18.2 weeks, that is over four and a half months wait time for health care. Canada’s health care system is plagued by rationing if the wait time is any indication of what is available…long waits for poor quality care and spiraling costs is going to doom Canada. Is it any reason they are facing both a doctor and technology shortage and the rich in Canada travel to the United States for healthcare; or did everyone miss that the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador Danny Williams underwent heart surgery in the U.S. because it was unavailable in Canada.
The population of Canada is approximately 35 million people, which is slightly more than a tenth of the United States’. These people think that everything is going to be rainbows and gum drops when the get single payer here in the United States, which is what they see Obamacare as a stepping stone to.
With single payer comes rationing and with rationing comes the realization that not everyone will get the same treatment for the same conditions…hence death panels. Oh they won’t call them that, just like they will try to call single payer something else to get it passed, because we have to pass it to find out what is in it of course. It is either that scenario or give everyone a high level of health care until the country goes bankrupt.
Don’t let our medical system become irrelevant by letting the government run it, it’s not worth the cost, not for you, me, or the rest of the country.
